Kid Pix
Dec0
Just taking a moment to post a couple pix of the kids, since I’m way behind in sharing photos:

Daniel seems to think there’s something exciting out there to look at.

I’d make a joke about Samantha and “Bewitched”, but she hears that enough as it is :-)
This is so wrong…

This is by far the worst thing I’ve ever seen done to a Linux desktop! But it is interesting, nonetheless.
Great Rally Footage

Some of the best rally crash footage all in one YouTube video. Finns are crazy ;-)

I’m also giving the latest Ubuntu (9.10) desktop release a try on the Dell Lat 820. I soooo want to like it, but (of course) it still has issues with wpa wifi networks straight out of the box.
I still want to give it some time, so if I get it working without too much hassle, I’ll post about it.
Follow-up on Windows 7 plus VMWare Fusion
Oct1
A quick note: I’ve been using Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro via VMWare Fusion for about a week now and have the following comments:

- Speed – It’s a little slower than I’d like. Once the virtual disk was fully indexed, this issue got a little better, but I’d still say the overall responsiveness of 7-on-Fusion is slower than I’d prefer. It’s entirely possible that once the official Fusion release to include Windows 7 support is out, I’ll have a slightly better experience.
- Compatibility – You may remember my quick article from a ways back about installing admin tools on Windows 7 for Exchange 2003, Server 2003 and such… well, the Exchange extensions for Active Directory Users and Computers don’t work if you’re using the 64-bit edition of 7. Not really a problem, just a minor inconvience.
- Stability – Very good. Have yet to have an issue. This install spends a lot of time just going to sleep when I shut the MacBook lid and always seems to wake up just fine.
A week in and I can’t really complain. Once the official Fusion support is included, hopefully the Aero features will all work. I’ll be sure to add more info once that happens.
Installing Windows 7 Today
Oct0
So we’ll see how this goes: I’m putting Windows 7 Pro on my VMware Fusion install on the MacBook Pro today. Hopefully I won’t discover any driver issues or other oddities with 7-on-OS X.
Beer Lovers, Unite!

One of the most disturbing cases of bullying via the legal system, Rock Art Brewery in Morrisville, VT has been threatened by the Monster Energy Drink Co. for trademark infringement. The reason? Matt and his wife Renee who own and operate Rock Art produce a barley wine style beer called: Vermonster.
For the whole story, watch the YouTube video posted on Rock Art Brewery’s homepage:
Obviously, the legal claims are ridiculous and it’s purely an example of Monster trying to break into the alcoholic beverage market by laying waste to the good people already there. Matt is just unlucky enough to have chosen a product name kindabutnotreally close to Monster’s own.
My heart goes out to Rock Art and I promise to keep sending letters to Monster and their corporate parent, Hansen Beverage Company expressing my extreme displeasure over their actions.
Be sure to follow the drama as it plays out at the Rock Art Brewery website and by following Rock Art on Twitter, @rockartbrewery.
Good luck, Matt!
Thanks for a Great Weekend!

Kate, Joe & Harrison:
Thanks for a great weekend… it was really great to spend some quiet time out west and meet young Mr. Harrision. He’s a true delight, however he got really excited when I was digging in the wrong place, bragged about making the Kessel run in 12 parsecs and accused me of being a replicant!
I’d usually post a pic, but we (very stupidly) didn’t take any decent shots of anyone the whole time we were there :(
We’ll make up for that next time… see you in a few weeks!
